- Strength is the base on which all athletic goals are achieved. All of them. This includes fat loss. Most women won’t believe this, but it doesn’t make it any less true.
- I don’t care how much you weigh, and neither should you. Whatever the scale says, if you’re fat the fix doesn’t change.
- It’s time to eat like an adult.
- Spot reduction of fat doesn’t work. In particular, sit-ups do not reduce the size of your stomach. Google it, I got better things to do than type it up.
- Eating fat does not make you fat. Google it, I got better things to do than type it up.
- Training with weights does not make you big and bulky. Lean mass is hard to come by for everyone. Google it, I got better things to do than type it up.
- Nothing I teach is impossible for a rank beginner. I’ve taught some really rank beginners.
- There’s no need to supplement training programs I supply with any other stuff. In fact, it’ll probably work to your detriment. More is usually not better.
- Machines (of the CV variety and resistance variety) are tedious and inefficient. I’m not in the habit of boring people.
- I want to see as little of you as possible. I mean it. So, the sooner you’ve got the hang of the movements, the sooner you can get down to your own training.
- This is the most important one. Almost everything you see in a commercial gym is a flaming ball of fail. I get angry thinking about it. Do not ever look at what other people are doing, and don’t you dare try to emulate it. Violate this and I will sack you as a client. I’m so very serious.
- Training logs are strongly advised. I can’t force you, but grab yourself a nice little notebook and carry it round with you when you train. You’ll thank me for it.
- All clients get treated as athletes, with the respect and care they deserve.
